Instant 3D printing quotes from 3Descu: how it works

Updated: 7 hours ago
An instant 3D printing quote is a price calculated directly from your 3D file, with no request form and no wait for a sales reply. The 3Descu instant quote calculator reads an STL, OBJ, 3MF, STEP or STP file, applies the process, material, colour, infill and quantity you choose, and shows a price and a production estimate in under a minute. No account is needed to see the number, and nothing is charged until you confirm the order.
3Descu (legal entity TREIDESCUPRINT SRL) is an ISO 9001:2015 certified 3D printing manufacturer in Targu-Jiu, Romania, with 200+ 3D printers on one production floor and 1200+ orders delivered since 2022. The calculator prices work on those machines, so the company that quotes your part is the company that prints it.
What the 3Descu instant quote calculator covers
3Descu instant quote | What it handles |

File formats | STL, OBJ, 3MF, STEP, STP |
File size | Up to 50 MB per file, several files in one quote |
Largest single part | 500 x 500 x 500 mm in FDM, 300 x 250 x 250 mm in resin |
Quantity | 1 to 10,000 pieces per part |
Minimum order | €20 for the whole order, not per part |
Reply after you submit | The same business day, including custom requests |
The filament range is PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU, Nylon PA12, polycarbonate, PC-ABS, carbon fibre filled, PETG CF, ABS CF and wood filled PLA. The resins are standard, tough, flexible, castable and water-washable. Each filament has its own page on what it is good for and what it is the wrong choice for, in the 3Descu material range.
How to get an instant 3D printing quote, step by step
The 3Descu calculator runs in five steps.
Upload your files. Drag one or several files onto the upload box. The model is measured in your browser: volume, dimensions and surface area. Each file then shows which printer class it fits, or a warning if it is larger than the build volume.
Choose how you want to configure. Three paths. I'm an Expert lets you set every value yourself. Guide Me asks four questions (which technology, what matters most, the environment the part lives in, and the finish quality you need) and returns recommended settings with the reason for each one. White Glove Service means an engineer reviews your part and confirms the settings before production.
Pick process, material, colour and infill. Choose FDM or SLA, then a material and a colour. For FDM, set infill anywhere from 10% to 100%; resin parts print solid, so there is no infill setting. Under Advanced Settings you can change layer height (Fine, Standard at 0.2 mm, or Fast) and wall thickness. Each part has a notes box for requirements the settings do not cover. With several files, choose one set of settings for all of them or configure each part individually.
Set the quantity and read the price. Enter the quantity you actually need, not one, because setup and plate time are shared across a batch. The total, the price per piece and the estimated production time across the fleet appear on screen. A volume discount applies automatically as the order value rises.
Review and submit. On the summary, choose a production tier (Economy, Standard or Express, where each one applies), enter your country and postcode for a delivery estimate, and add your name and email. Phone, company, VAT number and industry are optional. Then send the quote.
For more on what each setting is worth changing, see the 3Descu design rules.

Which files the 3Descu calculator accepts
The calculator accepts STL, OBJ, 3MF, STEP and STP. STEP and STP files come straight out of CAD software and are converted automatically on upload. Send a STEP file where you have one: it stores true curved surfaces rather than a triangle approximation, and for the same part it is usually far smaller than an STL.
Each file can be up to 50 MB, and one quote holds up to 200 MB in total. A larger file is not refused: export it as STEP and quote it instantly, or email it to 3Descu from the button on screen for the same free engineering review.
The calculator also checks scale. A model under 1 mm in every dimension, or over 1 metre in one dimension, was probably exported in the wrong unit, and the upload step says so. Re-export in millimetres, or send it as it is and say so in the notes, and the size is confirmed before printing.
Uploaded files are encrypted in transit and at rest in EU storage and deleted automatically 90 days after upload. If you need an NDA first, 3Descu signs it fast once the text is agreed.
When a 3Descu quote is priced by a person instead
The calculator prices standard materials and standard colours instantly. Two choices switch the automatic price off on purpose, because any figure would be a guess: a custom material and a custom colour.
Your request | Price on screen? | What happens next |
Standard material, standard colour | Yes | The total and price per piece appear instantly |
Custom material (a grade or brand not on the list) | No | An engineer sources the exact material and emails the real price the same business day |
Custom colour (a RAL or Pantone code) | No | Stock for that colour is checked and the price is emailed the same business day |
White Glove Service | Yes | An engineer confirms the settings before production, with a reply the same business day |
Part larger than the build volume | Flagged | It is split into printable sections, and 3Descu advises where, or it is quoted by hand |
A stated tolerance or a finishing step | Yes, for the part | Write it in the notes and it is answered directly in the reply |
With a custom material or colour you still set the quantity and send the request. Nothing is charged, and you decide once you have the real price. The difference between this and a classic request for quotation is set out in instant quote vs RFQ.
What happens after you submit a quote to 3Descu
Every quote is read by a person at 3Descu before anything is invoiced. If the calculator has priced something oddly, in either direction, the reply corrects it and explains why.
The reply. You get the confirmed price, the shipping cost and the invoice by email the same business day, including a custom material, a custom colour or the White Glove path.
Payment. Nothing is charged in the calculator. You pay only after the order is confirmed.
VAT. An EU business with a valid VAT number is invoiced under reverse charge, so 3Descu adds no VAT.
Production. Printing runs seven days a week, so production days are consecutive calendar days. The courier leg runs on business days.
Delivery. Parcels ship with DPD, GLS, Cargus, FedEx or DHL. Standard courier transit runs from 2 to 3 business days (Bulgaria, Hungary) to 4 to 5 business days (Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and others), and the summary shows the window for your country.
Tracking. Sign in to the order portal with the email address the order was filed under. There is no password: you get a link and a six digit code. The portal shows the order's stage, the configuration as quoted, a message thread and the tracking number once the parcel leaves.
On request. Photos of your parts at any production stage, and a QC report, which is free on orders over €500.
The full route from upload to delivery is on the how it works page.
Why 3Descu put the price first
A price you can re-run changes how a part gets designed. Comparing PETG against ABS, or one piece against fifty, costs a few seconds instead of another round of emails. The calculator also flags what it cannot know, such as a custom material, an oversized part or a file in the wrong unit, rather than pricing around it. No dimensional tolerance is published, because none has been measured on parts from these machines yet; send your drawing with the file and it is answered directly.
3Descu customers rate the service 4.7 / 5. If you are not sure whether filament or resin fits your part, the 3Descu process guide covers both, and the calculator lets you price the same file in each.
